This gray foam tape is built for mounting trailer siding to the frame and sealing the overlaps where panels meet. It grabs on contact, then keeps strengthening over the following days until it's holding as solid as a rivet, minus the drill holes. Because the foam core flexes, it rides out vibration and temperature swings instead of cracking, and it seals each seam against moisture for the long haul.
How to Apply
- Clean both surfaces first: the back of the sheet and the frame. This is the step that makes or breaks the bond, so don't skip it.
- Wipe both surfaces down with isopropyl alcohol before taping. Let it fully dry.
- Optional: for the most secure adhesion, you can prime the surface with a tape primer first, not required, but it adds extra insurance.
- Press and roll: once you've stuck the tape to one surface, roll it down firmly before peeling the liner and mounting it to the other side (frame or sheet). This locks in full contact and the strongest bond.
Other Ways to Use This Tape
This isn't a one-trick trailer-siding tape, it's part of 3M's commercial vehicle lineup, so it covers a few other jobs you'll likely run into:
- Trim, molding & emblem attachment: mounts plastic or metal trim pieces, badges, and emblems to painted or powder-coated surfaces with no visible fasteners
